To clear the keypad, just press and hold Access Learn and Radio Learn together for 10 seconds or until the Keypad LED status indicator light goes out.
Note: If you've programmed the keypad according to all the steps and methods below and it still continues to not work, check our Stanley wireless keypad troubleshooting down below. Your keypad is most likely defective and requires replacement.
The CodeKey Entry System is a wall-mounted, battery-operated keypad that allows
anyone to operate the garage door opener as long as that person enters a specific
4-digit ACCESS CODE which is programmed by the owner. The keypad is back lit with LEDs which are normally off. Pressing ANY key lights
the keypad. Each keystroke causes a separate indicator to blink. The correct "ACCESS CODE" must be entered within 20 keystrokes, otherwise the
unit will stop operation for 5 minutes. The user has 25 seconds between keystrokes
to enter the correct code, otherwise you must start over. After the CodeKey has activated by entering the correct (in sequence) "ACCESS
CODE", the Stanley Safe-T-Close mode allows ANY key on the CodeKey to be used
to open, stop or close the door, for a period of about thirty seconds. A LOW BATTERY condition is indicated when the keypad lights on the CodeKey go
off after the first keystroke entry instead of remaining on. Important: The installer MUST program the RADIO CODE and ACCESS CODE before the
CodeKey will operate the door opener If you are mounting your keyless entry system to aluminum siding you may find
it better to substitute carriage bolts for the mounting screws provided. Bolts
should be long enough to reach into the garage and be secured with lockwashers
and nuts. If you are mounting your keyless entry system onto brick, stone or
mortar, suitable anchors must be set into the mortar, and the fasteners screwed
into these. IDENTIFYING YOUR "RADIO CODE" TYPE Before setting any codes you need to identify the type of receiver that is in
your door opener.You do this by looking at the rear of the power unit hanging
in your garage. If your opener has a "LEARN" button on the back, you have a SecureCode
type opener. If your opener has a series of toggle switches or jumper wires,
you have a Digital type opener. Identify the type of opener you have at this
time. If you have a SecureCode type opener, go immediately to the Setting the "Access
Code" section. If you have a Digital type of opener, you first will have to write
down the code setting of the opener. Each toggle switch that is turned Closed
or ON
or jumper wire that is NOT cut determines the "Radio Code" your CodeKey keypad
must be programmed to send. *If you have toggle switches, write down the numbers that appear below the switches
that are turned ON (closed). Example: If Switches numbered 1,2,4,6,9,0 are Closed
or ON,
1-2-4-6-9-0 will be your "Radio Code". * If you have jumper wires,
write down the number of the unclipped wires (ON). Example: If wires 4,8,10 are
unclipped, 4-8-0 ill be your "Radio Code". Note: A "Radio Code" with ALL positions Open (OFF) or ALL jumper wires clipped
CANNOT be used. SETTING THE "ACCESS CODE" The ACCESS CODE is a 4-digit code picked by you (sort of a PIN number) which
is used to activate the CodeKey unit. The FACTORY SET access code is 1-2-3-4.
To change the access code follow these steps: A. Press the ACCESS LEARN key two (2) times. The red indicating light will blink
each time the key is pressed, then it will stay on. B. If this is the first time the CodeKey is being programmed, enter the FACTORY
SET code of 1-2-3-4. If not, enter the access code that was previously programmed. C. Enter the NEW access code you selected. D. Press ACCESS LEARN one more time. This eliminates the old access code and
installs your new code. If the LED flashes quickly for a few seconds, you will
have to re-enter the data because it was not entered correctly. SETTING THE "RADIO CODE" At the keypad enter the code as follows: A. Press the RADIO LEARN key two (2) times. The red indicating light will blink
each time the key is pressed then it will stay on. B. DIP SWITCH TYPE - For 10 dip switch machines, enter your PIN* then
enter the "Radio Code" that you determined is set on your power unit. If
this does not work, try programming the radio code WITHOUT entering your PIN
number. (Once the keypad has stopped flashing you can begin programming from "SETTING
THE 'RADIO CODE'")
SECURECODE - For Securecode machines, enter your PIN* then enter 0-0-0-0. If this does not work, try programming the radio code WITHOUT entering your PIN number. (Once the keypad has stopped flashing you can begin programming from "SETTING THE 'RADIO CODE'")
* For some keypads, you will not need to enter the PIN. If the garage door opener does not respond to the keypad, you may immediately repeat the steps for "setting the 'radio code'", but DO NOT include the PIN before the radio code. C. Press RADIO LEARN one more time. The red LED should turn off. If the LED flashes quickly for a few seconds, you will have to re-enter the data because it was not entered correctly. TO OPERATE YOUR GARAGE DOOR CAUTION: Door opener will activate during the following steps. Keep pathway of garage door clear. If you have a DIGITAL/DIP SWITCH type opener, entering the four digit ACCESS CODE you selected will activate your door. If you have a SECURECODE type opener, you must first follow these steps to teach the opener the radio code the CodeKey system is sending. A. Press and release the REMOTE or "R" or LEARN button located on the rear of the power unit. The red LED indicator above the LEARN button and on the power unit will come ON, indicating the power unit is now in the LEARN mode. B. Immediately enter the 4-digit ACCESS CODE you selected in the CodeKey keypad. The CodeKey will send a radio signal to the power unit, then the lights on the power unit will blink two (2) times and turn OFF. C. Press ANY key on the CodeKey keypad. This will activate the power unit. The power unit "learned" this new radio code. Pressing ANY key on the CodeKey keypad will activate the opener for 2 to 10 minutes as a security precaution in case you forget the PIN number. The lights on the keypad will flash but the door will operate during this period.
STANLEY WIRELESS KEYPAD TROUBLESHOOTING
If at any time you get confused or forget the existing ACCESS CODE, you can RESET the CodeKey to the factory settings. To do this, just press and hold the Access Learn and Radio Learn buttons together for 10 seconds or until the LED status indicator light goes out. If it does not go out, let go of the buttons and try again. Repeat until the LED goes out. You can reprogram the keypad's radio code more than once without having to clear the keypad or reprogram the access code. This will allow you to try the various steps to programming the Stanley wireless keypad. If you've followed the instructions above and are still experiencing problems, try replacing the battery of the keypad. If you replace the battery, you WILL have to reprogram your Stanley wireless keypad again. If you've replaced the keypad, programmed it accord to our instructions above, and it continues to not work; your keypad is defective and requires replacement. If you have a DIGITAL/DIP SWITCH type opener and you've followed the instructions above to program your keypad, but it continues to not work; try reprogramming your opener's dip switch settings and reprogram the keypad accordingly. Remember to clear the keypad before you bein reprogramming the Stanley wireless keypad. If your SECURECODE opener programs correctly but disables one of your handheld transmitters, the memory of the receiver is full. The GDO has memory to allow up to 6 transmitting devices. If you have programmed the keypad more than once, you could have used 2 or more memory slots. To clear the memory of the opener, press and hold the LEARN or REMOTE or "R" button on the garage door opener motor unit and reprogram all existing remotes and keypad back into the unit. If you've programmed the keypad according to all the steps above and the keypad continues to not work, check your opener's receiver model or transmitter's model number to make sure the Stanley wireless keyless pad is actually compatible with your opener. The receiver may be a different brand and not incompatible with Stanley radio control devices. If your keypad and all your remotes stopped working at the same time but your hard-wired wall button continues to work, than the receiver logic board in your machine requires replacement. If your keypad can only close the garage door but not open it, than there is interference nearby. Try moving the keypad to a different locatino and testing to see if it will work before mounting the keypad once again. If you've programmed the keypad according to all the steps and methods above and it stil continues to not work, your keypad is defective and requires replacement.
