Although some homeowners have the tools and knowledge to fix garage doors, we highly recommend hiring a professional garage door installer/servicer to do the work for you. Basic Terms [ Garage Door Glossary of Terms ]

1	Window Lite Glazed section with various types of glass or clear acrylic to allow for light and visibility.
2	Sections Steel panels reinforced with stiles interconnected with hinges and rollers.
3	Bottom Bracket A structured support which provides for attachment of lifting cables.
4	Cable Drum Grooved drums on the torsion spring shaft that lifting cables wind around when door is opening.
5	Torsion Springs Provides the means to raise and lower the door via cable winding on drums.
6	Extension extend along both horizontal tracks
7	Rear Track Hanger
8	Track Provides a guide for section to raise or lower door.	Track Types: Standard Low Headroom	Track Components: Vertical Track: on either side of opening. Horizontal Track: attached to ceiling. Radius: curved track
Standard Heights: 7 feet high - 4 sections high 8 feet high - 5 sections high		Gauge = thickness of steel Lower is better. 24 gauge is thicker than 25 gauge.

	Standard Extension Springs These are coiled springs installed above the door’s horizontal track. They can be installed by the do-it-yourselfer by closely following the installation instructions and safety warnings.
	Standard Torsion Springs These include a shaft, spring and a drum assembly, normally installed directly above the door opening. The torsion spring distributes the weight of the door more evenly, particularly with a very wide extremely heavy door. Standard torsion springs should be installed and removed only by a garage door professional.
