This page contains answers to common questions handled by
our Technical Support staff, along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and
presented here as questions.

Trouble Shooting
Flowcharts:
C-123L, C-123LW
1. C-123L system has a buzz or hum.
Wire was run too close to AC voltage or fluorescent lights.
Shielded wire is recommended. If shielded wire was run, connect one end of the shield to
an earth ground.
Refer to C-123L

2. Call tone is too loud.
1. Check for proper voltage. C-123L/A is a 6V DC system.
Refer to C-123L/A
Instructions.
2. There is no call tone adjustment on the C-ML/A. If
voltage is right, the master can be modified to lower call tone. Contact Aiphone
Technical Support for modification information.
3. Newly installed C-123LW, feedback when either
master tries to communicate with the door.
Is there only one power supply for both masters?
C-123LW requires two SKK-620s, one per master (or 4 "C" batteries in each
master.)

4. Newly installed C-123LW, when one master tries
to communicate with the door a chime tone is heard at the other master.
Dual Adapter Kit (DAK-2S) is not installed, or installed
backwards.
Refer to C-123LW Instructions.
5. Newly installed unit is totally dead.
Make sure unit has 6V DC (12V DC will severely damage the
unit).
Make sure power connections are on + and - terminals. (Check to make sure the wires on the
- and 1 terminals are not reversed.)

LEF System
Trouble Shooting
Flowchart:
Master to Audio Only Sub
1. New LEF with All Call adapter has more than one
light coming on when subs call in.
1. Check to see if "E" & "-"
wires are shorted together anywhere in the system.
2. Capacitors (NP-25V) are required between master and All
Call adapter, in series with each station number terminal assigned to an indoor sub
station.

2. New LEF system has buzz or hum.
Master(s) is too close to AC voltage or dimmer switches.
Shielded wire is recommended. If shielded wire was run, tie all of the shields together
and ground one end to an earth ground.
Wire between master stations must be in one
jacketed cable. If multiple cables were used, make sure all station number wires and the E wire are
in the same jacketed cable.

3. New LEF system has more than one light coming on
when subs call in.
1. In a multiple master system, make sure that the "E" & "-" are not shorted together.

2. Possible power surged units, send in for repair.
4. Existing LEF system has more than one light
coming on when subs call in.
Possible power surged units, send in for repair.
5. LEF one master system, communication with the
sub is fine, but no call tone (or call tone but no communication or a combination of both
at different subs).
If running 2 conductors to sub stations: Jumper between
"E" & "-" has been removed and must be reinstalled on all units,
including master station.

6. LEF system, "Occupied" light always
on.
A station in the system is in the "ON" position,
the "R" wire is shorted, or a unit in the system is damaged.

7. LEF system, no communication between masters.
Improper connection of the "C" terminal.
("C" Stands for "call", not "common"). Check wiring
connections between master stations to make sure the wire on the "C" terminal is
wired properly. "C" of master 1 connects to 1 of all other masters.
"C" of master 2 connects to 2 of all other masters, etc.

8. LEF/BGR, no audio or music but has lights &
shows display.
PS-1225UL (or PS-12C) and PS-2410A
(or PS-24C) power supplies might be swapped. 12V DC
power goes to LEF, 24V DC goes to BGR-10A.

9. LEF/BGR, music gets louder when selecting a
station from a master.
"R" or the "12V -" are not connected
from the LEF to the BGR-10A.

10. LEF System, "All Call" isnt
working.
1. All call requires additional equipment (BGR-10A with
PS-2410A, or BG-10C with PS-1225UL).

2. If additional equipment is present, check for proper
connection of P1, P2, and P3 terminals from the master stations to the BG-10C or BGR-10A.

11. LEF system with All Call/music, subs
continuously call in if music is on or all call is attempted (LE-A/AN, LE-B/BN, LE-D/DA
sub stations only).
The system requires one NP-25V capacitor for each sub
station. Install capacitor in series on all sub station number terminals between the LEF
master and All Call/Music adapter.

12. LEF System with BGR-10A/BG-10C door station
does not chime when call button is pressed.
Check for proper connection of the DA/DB/DC terminals and
the 12V DC "-" between BGR-10A/BG-10C and LEF master. Number wire (1) from door
station must be connected to DA, DB, or DC terminal. Negative of LEF must be connected to
- of BGR-10A. "E" is common communication. Chime tone is generated by a
momentary closure between 1 & - of door station, activating chime by shorting DA to -
in BGR-10A (BG-10C).

13. LEF System with BGR-10A/BG-10C door chimes when
call button is pressed, however the electronic call tone is heard as well.
Door station must tie to the BGR-10A/BG-10C first. Also,
SW-5 on the back of the main PC board needs to be in the "A" position (on all
LEF series masters). LEF-C masters come in the "A" position from the factory.
LEF surface mount units come in "B" position, and must be changed to
"A" when used with BG-10C.

14. LEF System, the door release doesnt
function.
The LEF requires an RY-PA relay for each door being
released. Two black wires are input side, requiring 12V DC to activate relay. Two yellow
wires provide a normally open dry closure when the relay is activated.

15. LEF/MY system has a
buzz or hum.
1. Connect "G" terminal on the PS-1820UL
power
supply to an earth ground.
2. Make sure that the MONITOR is on the left-hand side of the LEF intercom when facing the
units.
3. Make sure the video wiring (18AWG, 6 conductor) is run in a separate jacketed cable
from the intercom wires, and that the intercom wiring is not run directly behind or near
the video monitor.

16. LEF/MY system has a buzz or hum when the
monitor is on.
Monitor has to be on the left side of the LEF master.
(it
cannot be on the right.) Also, ground the PS-1820UL terminal to the
PS-1225UL. Refer to
#15.
17. LEF/ MY system, proper door camera comes on
when the call button is pressed, however all video and communication is lost when the
station is selected.
1. "K" terminals are improperly connected or not
connected at all.
Video door stations 1, 2, and 3 correspond to DA/KA, DB/KB, and DC/KC terminals
accordingly. E.g. If door #1 is on channel 10, K10 of master station must be connected to
KA of MYW-P3L. Likewise for other stations.

18. LEF/ MY system, proper door camera comes on
when the call button is pressed, however there is no control of the pan and tilt
functions.
1. Wire gauge is too thin or power supply is too far
away. Make sure power supply is within 16' of the adaptor or
monitor and is connected using 18 AWG wire.
2. Take affected unit to "working" location or to
the MYW Adapter and test.

19. Monitor does not turn on when door station call
button is pressed.
1. Take a voltage reading between U1 and -. It should
be roughly 18V DC. Check connection between MYW adapter and MYH monitor to make sure +, -,
U1, and U2 terminals are connected properly.
2. Short U2 to - at monitor, and the monitor should turn
on.
3. Short U2 to - at the previous monitor or MYW adapter to
isolate the problem to wiring or equipment.

20. LEF/ MY system, no call tone from camera.
Perform jumper test at LEF Master (short station number to
"-"). If call tone is heard, repeat jumper test on the appropriate D
terminal (DA, DB, DC) and "-" at the MYW Adapter. If call tone is heard,
perform jumper test at appropriate A1, A2 terminals. If call tone is heard, take
wires off of camera and short together. If that works, then the call button in the camera
is malfunctioning.
Use jumper tests as described to isolate problem to
specific equipment or wire.

LEM System
Trouble Shooting Flowchart:
LEM/LEM-1DL
1. LEM system has a buzz or hum.
Wire was run too close to AC voltage or fluorescent lights.
Shielded wire is recommended. If shielded wire was run, connect one end of the shield to
an earth ground.

2. LEM-1DL system has a buzz or hum.
1. Wire was run too close to AC voltage or fluorescent
lights. Shielded wire is recommended. If shielded wire was run, connect one end of the
shield to an earth ground.

2. Make sure that the wires from the power supply are not
run in the same cable as the door station wires. If they are, move them to a separate
cable.

3. Newly installed LEM-1DL is completely dead.
Wrong power supply (LEM-1DL requires the PT-1210N). Voltage
for the LEM-1DL can be 12-16V AC or 12-24V DC.

4. New installation, communication with the sub is
fine, but no call tone (or call tone but no communication).
Jumper between "E" and "-" terminals at
the door station has been removed and must be reinstalled.

5. Dual LEM system, feedback when either master
tries to communicate with the door.
Is there only one power supply on the system? Each LEM-1DL
requires its own PT-1210N.
Each LEM1- or LEM-3 requires its own SKK-620.

6. Dual LEM system, when one master tries to
communicate with the door a call tone is heard at the other master.
Dual Adapter Kit (DAK-2S) is not installed or is installed
backwards. (Use one component module per master station, bare leg connected to
"1" terminal.)

MC-60/4 System
1. Intermixed with MC-3 system, VOX circuit on the
MC-60/4 "chatters " or clips first/last word of communication.
Improper power supply (When MC-60/4s are installed
the PS-2420UL must be used).
2. No communication on a specific line.
Check for proper connection of :
Line 1 (red) - Terminal 4
Line 2 (green) - Terminal 3
Line 3 (yellow) - Terminal 6
Line 4 (orange) - Terminal 7
Power: 1 = +, 5 = Neg.
Paging: Terminal 2

3. No Paging.
1. Check for proper connection of terminal #2. Voltage
between 2 and 5 should be approx. 10V DC to trigger pretone and paging.

2.Check for proper paging adapter (MC-60/4 requires either
the MC-A/A adapter or the use of a PG-C series amplifier).
Refer to MC-A/A

3. If a PG-C amplifier is used, check the settings of
switches 7 and 8 (7 should be on, 8 should be off).
Refer to PG-C Instructions.
4. Some units on one run are completely
"dead" while others are fine.
Check for proper connections of terminals 1 and 5 (1 is
positive, 5 is negative). Also refer to questions #2 and #3.

5. Feedback while paging.
Overhead speakers are located too close to the handset
initiating the page. Either turn down the amplifier until the feedback goes away, or
modify the units for local speaker cut-out.

6. MC-60/4 system with the PG-C series amplifier,
music and paging are fine but there is no page pre-tone at all.
The #6 dip switch on the PG-C series amplifier must be
"on" for any pre-tone to be heard, refer to #7.

7. Music and paging are fine but paging pre-tone is
too loud or too quiet.
Pre-tone volume is adjusted separately from paging /music
volume. If the system includes a PG-C series amplifier, the pre-tone control is located
with the Bass/ Treble controls. If the system is using an MC-A/A, the pre-tone control is
on the bottom of the MC-A/A.

MY Video 1. MY camera continues panning or tilting after the
PanTilt button is released.
Power Supply or master monitor needs to be connected to an
earth ground. Connect "G" terminal on PS-1820UL or SG terminal on MY-1CD monitor to
ground.
2. Picture on monitor rolls.
Wire gauge is too thin, improper power supply, or power
supply is too far away from monitor. Power supply must be within 16' of monitor.
3. Monitor fails to bring up the camera.
Not enough power at the monitor, power supply is too far
away, or there are too many monitors on one power supply (three monitors maximum on one
PS-1820UL).
4. Monitor comes on but picture has a
"ghost" image or is distorted.
Are there extra conductors in the cable going out to the
camera? Terminate extra pairs of wires by connecting a 120 ohm resistor on each end of
each extra pair of wires, or double up on the wires to create a single wire out of each
pair.
5. Camera calls in continuously without button
being pushed at camera.
The voltage going out to the camera is too low. The voltage
at the camera should be approximately 8V DC in standby, 6.5V DC when calling in, and 14V
DC when in communication. If the voltage is below that, it will cause the door station to
call in. Be sure that the power supply is the correct wattage and amperage, and is within
16 feet of the main monitor or adapter. Another possible cause is if the power supply is
not grounded. Connect the GND terminal of the power supply to an earth ground.

NEM System
1. Sub station does not call in, but there is
communication.
Number and "E" wires are reversed.
Refer to the NEM
Instructions.
2. Sub station call is momentary, but does not
latch.
1. Jumper clip/wire at sub is missing (On the NA-A/AN, the
jumper clip is between the "D" and "E" terminals. On the NA-NE and the
NB-L, the "Green" and "Black" wires must be tied together, going to
the "E" of the master).
2. If an LE- series sub station is being used without
adding the PC-359B, the call will not latch. Add one PC-359B latching circuit board at
each sub station. Contact Technical Support for
modification instructions.

3. Existing NEM system has more than one light
coming on when subs call in.
1. Make sure the station numbers on the master station or
the number wires from the sub stations are not shorted together.
2. Other cause is possible power surge at the master. Send in for repair.
4. NEM system has buzz or hum.
Wire was run too close to AC voltage or fluorescent lights.
Shielded wire is recommended. If shielded wire was run, tie all the shields together and
connect one end to an earth ground. Connect the negative of the power supply to an
earth ground. (If noise is still there, try connecting ground to the E terminal of the
master station.)

5. Constant call tone and LED from "SPEAKER
ONLY" locations.
Speaker-only stations (SP-20N) require an NP-25V capacitor
in series with the leg of each speaker that is connected to the number terminal on the NEM
master. (This is only used when the speaker location does not have a call button to place
a call to the master station.)
6. All Call is garbled or distorted.
Check for proper power supply. The NEM-10/10A and the
NEM-20/20A require the PS-2410A, the NEM-30/30A and the NEM 40/40A require the
PS-2420UL. If
add-on selectors are included in the system, each one will require its own power supply.
The N-20AS requires a PS-2410A and the N-40AS requires a PS-2420UL.

RAX/RCX System
1. Station is "dead" or malfunctioning.
Swap unit with a station that is known to work. If the
problem follows that station, send the unit in for repair. If the problem stays in the
location, swap the subscriber card associated with that station with a subscriber card
that is known to work. If problem follows the subscriber card, send in that card for
repair. If the problem stays within location, the problem is in the wiring.

2. Feedback while paging.
Overhead speakers are located too close to the master
initiating the page. Turn down the amplifier until feedback goes away or move the speaker
(The RA-A & RA-B have omni-directional microphones that are more susceptible to this
type of problem. Using the RA-A in the handset mode or switching to an RA-D may reduce the
problem).
3. System with the PG-C series amplifier, music and
paging are fine but there is no paging pre-tone at all.
The #6 dip switch on the PG-C series amplifier must be
"on" for any pre-tone to be heard. Refer to #4.

4. Music and paging are fine but paging pre-tone is
too loud or too quiet.
Pre-tone volume is adjusted separately from paging/music
volume. If the system includes a PG-C amplifier, the
pre-tone control is located with the Bass/Treble controls. If a system is using the
MC-A/A, the pre-tone volume control is located on the bottom of the MC-A/A.

TD-H System
1. No communication between handsets.
Improper connection of the "C" terminal
("C" stands for "call", not "common"). Connect the
"C" terminal of a phone to the designated number terminal on another phone.
(e.g. "C" of phone #1 connects to "1" terminal of other phones;
"C" terminal of phone #2 connects to "2" terminal of all other phones,
etc.)

2. Feedback while paging.
Overhead speakers are located too close to the master
initiating the page. Turn down the amplifier until feedback goes away, move the speaker,
or obtain an RY-SP local speaker cut-out relay and
install according to the instructions provided.
3. No paging.
Check for proper paging adapter (TD-H requires either the
PD-1 or PD-2 adapter, or the use of a PG-C series amplifier). If a PG-C amp is used, check
the setting of switches 7&8 (For the PD-1; 7 is on, 8 is off. For PD-2; 7 is off, 8 is
on).

4. System with PG-C series amplifier, music and
paging are fine but there is no paging pre-tone at all.
The #6 dip-switch on the PG-C
amplifier must be "on" for any pre-tone to be heard. Refer to #5.
5. Music and paging are fine but paging pre-tone is
too loud or too quiet.
Pre-tone volume is adjusted separately from paging / music
volume. If the system includes a PG-C amplifier, the
pre-tone control is located with the Bass/Treble controls. If the system is using a PD-1 or PD-2, the
pre-tone volume control is located on the bottom of the paging adapter.
6. Door station calls in, but there is no
communication.
A DE-UR door station adapter is required for each door
station being connected. Only IF/IE door stations may be used with the TD-H system. Check
for proper connection of the "C" terminal between the DE-UR and the TD-H
handsets.

7. Door station calls in and communicates, but the
door release does not work.
For the door release to function, communication must first
be established with the door station. Then press the "page" button in the
handset. Door strike must have its own power source, and be connected to the EL, EL
terminals in the DE-UR.

8. Door station volume is too low.
Only IE/IF door stations may be used with the TD-H system.
Check for proper connection of the door station to the DE-UR and also the "C"
terminal between the DE-UR and the TD-H handsets. The volume to the door station is
inherently low, due to the fact that the door station contains a speaker and microphone.
The DE-UR can be modified to raise the volume at the door station, but the resulting
volume may still be lower than desired. Contact Technical
Support for information regarding this modification.

VC-M System
1. No Call Tone, but communication to and from the
handset is fine.
Perform jumper test between terminals 1 and B. If no call
tone, the unit is defective. If call tone sounds, check wiring between B on the VC-K and
the button terminal on the VC-M panel. Make sure that the black common bus wire for all
the call switches is connected to the B terminal of the VC-M panel. If still no call tone,
switch B wire to different call button switch. If call tone is heard, then the button is
bad. Otherwise recheck wiring.

2. No communication from VC-K to VC-M.
Check wiring between 1 of VC-M and 1 of VC-K.
3. No communication from VC-M to VC-K.
Check wiring between 2 of VC-M and 2 of VC-K.
4. Communication is fine, but no door release.
Check the wiring between 4 of the VC-K and 4 of the VC-M.
Check to make sure the RY-PA relay is properly attached (black leads to L+ and L-).

YAZ System
1. Specific unit is "dead".
Check for 24V DC at the unit. Initiate self-check mode.
Refer to YAZ instruction
manual.
2. When two sets of handsets are
communicating and two more pick up they get a "busy" signal.
Check for proper connection of lines 1 through 6.
(Terminals 1&2 are for channel 1, 3&4 are channel 2, 5&6 are channel 3.)
Initiate self-check mode on each handset until problem handset is found.
